The 5 points at the end to me are 100% correct. I have worked on multiple OSS applications, including my current one OpenRMF. And I found over the last 3+ years I have learned SOOOO much as far as skill, architecture, tech, interacting with tech and non-tech people, and passion about solving a problem.
